We
have given him the name Vahridj. He himself does not remember anything about
his earliest childhood. Till newly he thought that he was an Arab and was living
with his parents who had always treated him well. Once our agent came to that
place, he saw the boy and immediately he was sure that he was an Armenian. He
asked the parents but those denied. Yet as our agent from the neighbours
understood that he was right he spoke with the boy. He told him about his
nation and about our rescue-home. The national feeling immediately awoke in
Vahridj and he was willing to follow. The Arabs turned to their court who gave
them the right to keep the boy. Yet by the help of the French government our
agent succeeded in rescuing him.
