When the parents were deported, they left Sara with her
grandmother hoping that both of them might remain in Rumkale. Yet, the poor old
woman received the order that she had to go with another caravan. She feared,
became ill and died suddenly. Poor Sara was alone. A rich Turkish functionary
pitied her and took her in his house. He kept her as a daughter. Newly that
Turk had to move to Urfa, and as there at the same time came the news that
Sara's parents were alive and had reached Aleppo, he asked her, whether she
wanted to go with him or to her parents. She choose her parents. The Turk sent
her to a friend of his, a Turk in Biredjik, who had promised to send her on to
Aleppo. That friend was a rascal, who kept the girl and treated her badly. The
parents who had heard about that turned to us for help and we succeeded in
rescuing her. The poor girl was immediately sent to hospital where she became a
child.
