During the deportation Hovhannes was
exiled with his parents. When they reached Deir-el-Zor the caravan was encamped
outside the city. The following day they wer sent further on without leaving
them breath on the way. Hovhannes' mother gave her child to an Arab of her own
accord and she continued her journey where did she go? Nobody ever knew. He
remained in the Arab's tent but he thought of his mother constantly. After
eleven years, when he grew up, he fled and made all possible efforts to get the
track of his mother, but in vain. Hopeless, the poor boy one day knocked at the
door of our agent in Hassitshe then he was sent to us.
