During the deportation her husband was killed and she exiled with her children to Mardin. She was married with a Turk and lived seven years with him.
In 1922 Armenians were allowed to leave Turkey but she could not because her husband was against it. She knew a muleteer, she promised him a large sum of money if he would take her with her child to Aleppo. The muleteer agreed and brought them to this city.
Manoush fled from the Turk to the muleteers house and started from there her dangerous journey.
