Sara's father died before the war. She was deported with her mother to Karadja Dagh, the whole caravan was attacked by Kourds. Most of the deported people were killed and the remain[d]ers wounded.
During this attack Sara was wounded too. A Kourd took her to his house and took care of her. After her recovery he sent her to a Turkish family in Diarbekir. She became the servant of the house and remained seven years there. In her neighbour's house two Armenian girls were servants, again in a Turkish house. They were intended to flee and asked Sara's opinion. The latter decided to join them immediately. In the next morning before sunrise they started for Aleppo and reached this city after a long and dangerous journey.
