Hovhannes was deported with his parents, 3 brothers and a sister. Before the war 2 brothers had gone to America.

                  When the caravan came near Kharput, a Turkish coachman drew Hovhannes away. He wanted him to cleanse his carriage and his horses.

                  When Hovhannes returned the caravan had gone, so he lost his relatives and had never had any news about them.

                  Hovhannes met with another caravan and walked some days till he reached Euphrates, there Kourds attacked the people.

                  A Kourd brought Hovhannes with him, and he stayed with his master as a shepherd 12 year.

                  The tribe went from one place to another. Once they came near Hassitshe, our agent found him and persuaded him to come to us.

We hope to come in connection with his brothers in America. Hovhannes has also an uncle in Constantinople.
