Those two boys Kevork and
Krikor have till now been in a Kourdish village near Diarbekir.
They were taken out of the
caravan by a Kourd who treated them as slaves. The boys had to do hard work,
were shepherds and servants. They were often beaten cruelly. Also they suffered
on account of their being among Mohammedans.
Several times they tried to
flee but were always caught again and brought back to their owner. One day they
succeeded and reached Ras-el-Ain. There our agent found them and sent them on
to us.
Krikor is very ill. He has the
consumption.
