İn the war-time Garabed's father was thrown in prison and killed. Garabed came with his mother and a sister on the road. 

                  The caravan reached a river, there Kourds attacked the people, killed and threw many in the water. So also Garabed's mother and sister were drowned.  

                  Garabed was taken away by an Arab, who always treated him well. He never forgot his dear ones and that he was a Christian. He also was longing to learn a trade. He asked permission to go to Aleppo and the Arab allowed him that.    

                  He then one day came to our house.  

 

Found his mother in Greece and went to live with her.
