During the deportation his [father] was killed. When his step-mother was going to be deported, she gave Dikran to the chief of the village, hoping to save his life in this way. Dikran lived for eight years in the chief's house doing the job of a shepherd.

            When Dikran grew up he wanted to go back to his nation, he wanted to learn a trade. The opportunity appeared when Armenians were leaving Turkish territory. He fled first to Harpoot and hid himself among Armenian refugees and later started with them for Aleppo. He reached this city after long journey across western Turkey.

As far as we know he has no relatives.
