Vartan was deported to Deir-el-Zor.
There in a few days he lost his all relatives. He himself as the only survivor
of the whole family, lived under the tent of an Arab who adopted him as his
child. Thus, Vartan grew up as an Arab serving as a shepherd for his master.
One day he met with an Armenian in Hassitshe who told him that some of his
distant relatives were still living in Aleppo and to meet them he had not much
to do but only to go to the agent of Miss Jeppe's work in Hassitshe. Vartan did
not hesitate and per auto was sent to us.
