In the beginning of the deportaton her father was a soldier in the Turkish army. Her mother was deported with her child but Yeghsabeth was taken to the chief's family and lived eight years with this family being considered as their child. Later when Yeghsabeth grew up her mistress wanted to marry her to her son. When she heard about it she wanted to flee and she prepared herself. She spoke with some Armenians. They promised her to protect and take her to Aleppo if she would flee to them.

Yeghsabeth fled from the Turkish family in order to save her honour. The Armenians kept their promise and took her with them to this city.
