He
himself does not remember anything about his earliest childhood. He tells us
that some Armenians who were in the same village informed him about his being
an Armenian and that he was deported with his parents from Van in the direction
of Diarbekir where he was taken by a Kurd. One day he heard that his broher
Zakar was living in Mosul by an Arab. He fled with some merchants to Baghdad
and afterwards to Kut-el-Amara. There an Arab took possession of him and he had
to work for that man many years. One day his possessor beat him in that way
that he resolved to flee. On the road he met with an Armenian chauffeur who put
him into his motor-car and brought him safely to our rescue-home in Aleppo.
