Mariam was married to an Armenian in the beginning of the
war. Her husband was taken as a soldier in the Turkish army and disappeared. In
the time of deportation she also came on the road. The caravan reached Haine.
There a Turk took her and brought her to his house. She was forced to live with
him many years. She was illtreated and one day she fled with her daughter
Manushag. She reached Diarbekir, where Armenians took care of her and sent on
to us.
Mariam was ill when she came here.
After a long treatment she has
recovered and is now learning our needle-work.
Left our care: December 5,
1929. Married in Aleppo.
