Puzant
has told us, that in the beginning of the war his father and uncle with many
other men were taken away by soldiers and killed.
His
mother was deported with one daughter, Puzant and all her country people. Months after months they were driven to and
fro. The mother and sister became ill and were left on the road. An Arab one
day brought Puzant with him in his tent, there he stayed 12 years as a slave.
Our agents in Deir-el-Zor, who was searching Armenians among the Arabs found
Puzant and helped him to flee to us.
It
was wonderful to see Puzant’s face when he the first evening heard the word
Hai=Armenian. His face was shining, and he exclaimed Oh! How long time has
passed, since I heard that word. Before going to bed and the boys were saying
their prayers and making the sign of the cross, he said. Now I am at home
again.
