Mariam's
father wa a soldier in the Turkish army, when she was deported with her mother
and her 3 sisters.
After
along and troublesome journey afoot they reached Surudjh. There they stayed one
year. Mariam's mother and two of her sisters became ill and died. A gendarme
sold her elder sister to an Arab. One day a Kurd took possession of Mariam and
brought her to his shouse. She was treated rather well.
When
she grew up her master wanted to marry her to another Kurd. Mariam, who wanted
to join her nation and her own church, fled to Arab-pounar from where by our
agent she was sent on to us.
