Marie was exiled with her relatives
to Veranshehir, there she was taken by a Kurd to his house and in this way she
was separated from her relatives. The Kurd kept her for eleven years. During
the latest Kurdish events her possessor left Marie in his brother's house and
crossing the Turkish frontier took refuge in the Syrian territory and then he
established himself in Aleppo. Marie's one brother was living in Aleppo, he saw
the Kurd in the market and recognized him, then he hurried to inform us about
the matter. We asked the Kurd in the name of humanity to return Marie to her
brother. The man partly persuaded and partly frightened wrote a letter to his
brother and demanded the girl. Marie reached safely from Veranshehir to Aleppo.
Her pale face brightened seeing her long-lost brother in our office.
