Krikor was deported with the family
as far as Malatia and then to Mardin, where he was dragged out of the caravan
and was brought into a Kurd's house. He lived eleven years there, serving as a
shepherd. In the same house there was an Armenian girl too (No.1125). Both of
them grew up in the Kurd's house. One day Krikor's master beat him so cruelly
that the poor boy nearly lost his sight, upon which he resolved to flee. He
succeeded, Gadar too, and both of them made their escape and reached Aleppo
with the help of an Armenian Catholic priest.
