His parents died before the war. Avedis was living with his elder brother. At the beginning of the deportations they were exiled to Partag where the children were separated from the caravan and given to different Turks.
Avedis was taken to a Turkish family at Fetamet where he lived 3 years as a farmer. During the war living was getting more and more expensive and the Turk could not keep Avedis any longer at his charge. Avedis went to Shintill and found a place in this town as a shepherd. He remained four years there.
When Armenians were going to Aleppo, he fled to Harpoot, joined a caravan and reached finally Aleppo.
