Haroutioun was deported with his family to a town named Biredjik where his mother and sister became ill and died. He and his father were sent to Rakka. Haroutiuoun being a little boy was very tired from the long walks that he could not continue the way to Der-el-Zor. He remained all exhausted in an Arab home of Hamra and his father was driven on to Der-el-Zor.
Haroutioun remained eight years with the Arab family doing farmer's work. Many times he wanted to flee but having heard that all Armenians were killed he did not dare. From his father he had no news.
Once he went to Rakka on business. There he met an Armenian coachman who told him about our Reception house and all the Armenians in Aleppo. Haroutioun was instantly ready to flee, he joined the coachman and came to us on May 15th.
