Eliza's father was killed in Urfa in the beginning of the deportation. She was exiled with her mother, three sisters and three brothers to Bara-Bura.
She was there taken to an Arab house where she remained 8 years as their daughter or more as a servant until she could become of age and be profitably sold for marriage.
An Armenian youth however who was living as a slave in a neighbouring tent, rescued the girl before she was sold and brought her to us.
Left our care: July 12, 1925. Selfsupporting, Servant. Relatives. |
