In the beginning of the deportation,
Hagop was exiled with his parents and three brothers. On reaching Hassitshe the
caravan encamped for the night at a little distance of the town. The following
day, early in the morning the gendarms separating the women, sent the men away
into the fields. There the Tchetchens were waiting for them. In a few hours,
they executed the order massacring the defenseless people of whom no one was
saved. Then the band turned toward the encampment, reaching there, they robbed
the women and children taking by force all the money, ornaments, clothes, etc.
which they had. Hagop came into the possession of an Arab, who took him to his
house, where he had to work hard. He lived eleven years with the same person,
named Abbas al Isa. Once our agent seeing Hagop, beckoned to him follow him,
which he did, and thus reached Aleppo and we took him into our rescue-house.
