The two sisters Marie and Vartanoush were exiled with their mother, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. The caravan came near Deir-el-Zor. There Marie's husband was killed, they were newly married.

                  When the caravan reached Killis, the people were attacked by Arabs who killed and took many of the young women and children with them. So also Marie and Vartanoush were brought to different tents.

                  After some motnhs Marie fled to a Kourdish village, yet she was brought back by the Arab. After a year she and the sister fled and came in a Turkish family, where they stayed 8 years. That Turk went to live in Aleppo, Marie and Vartanoush were with him. Here they succeeded in fleeing to our rescue-home.
