He was deported with his family to Der-el-Zor. In this city children were separated from their parents and kept in an inn while their parents were deported in the deserts and killed there. Of course Hagop does not know what happened to his parents.

Weeks later, these children were given to different Arabic families, in order to educate them in the Moslem way. Hagop and his brother were living among Arabs in Shumati for four years.

Hagop's elder brother was alive when the British troops occupied this region and so he returned to his native town. Hagop wanted to return with his brother too but they were told that English troops killed every Armenian who came from the Moslems so he was afraid and remained 4 more years as a shepherd. Some day nomadic Arabs were going to a village near Aleppo, he joined them and entered by night Aleppo. He joined our Reception house October 8th.

Went to live with our agricultural colony as a farmer.

Left our care: June 7, 1924. Selfsupporting, farmer.
