PICTURE

Abraham's father was living in Constantinople when the Armenian massacres began. Abraham was deported with his mother, brother and sister to the region of Rakka.

Between Rakka and Tel-Abiat the caravan of deported Armenians was attacked by an Arab tribe. Abraham was taken as slave to the tents of the chief and employed as camel driver. He does not know what happened to his relatives. He remained nine years among the Arabs. He suffered in the beginning, but by and by became an Arab himself. Nevertheless he always remembered his being an Armenian.

When once the tribe camped near Der-el-Zor he fled to the city at night. Our agent of that town sent him by motor-car to us.

Abraham has been sick for a long time. He is learning a trade, but is not yet able supporting himself. He has relatives, who are not able to take care of him.
