Mennoush was exiled with her
parents. When the caravan reached Mardin, a Turk wanted to drag her away, her
parents defended their child, but alas, in this way they gave up their life.
The unhappy girl remained at the mercy of this brutal man, who after keeping
her for some years sold to an Arab. This latter married her to an Armenian whom
he had kept as a slave in his house. She lived three years with her husband,
both of them were working for their master. One day her husband fell ill and
died. Mennoush disgusted with her life, fled and reached Ras-el-Ain whence by
our agent she was sent to us.
