In the beginning of the war his father was put in prison and later sent to Diarbekir. On the road Turkish gendarms killed him.

             Nishan with his mother and brother were deported to Mardin. At a distance of about two hours from Severek a Kurd took his mother away from the caravan. Nishan ignores what happened to her being driven away with the rest of the caravan.

             Nishan and his brother reached Mardin but nobody knew them, they had no money no food and no relatives. A Turk of this town took them to his house and took care of them during nine years.

             The Armenian priest of Mardin recognized them as Armenians and sent them to our Hassitshe agent from there they were sent to us.
