Nerses and his brother (No. 1165)
were exiled with their mother and one sister as far as the village Berki on the
banks of Euphrates. Their father was killed by the Turks in his native country.
As they reached the above mentioned village a Turkish carriage-driver took
their mother and sister away promising them to take back to their native
country, but soon afterwards he sold the mother to the Kurds and her daughter
he took for himself. Nerses and his brother were taken by a Kurd to his house,
where they had to work many years for him in the village Gerdeg near Urfa.
However, our agent in Arabpounar
being informed about them arranged their escape and sent to us.
