Azkanoush came on the road with her parents, two sisters,
one brother and thousands of Armenians. The caravan reached Katma. There the
poor people were crowded together in a narrow place. Many died, also
Azkanoush's father. In Katma an Arab took her by force and brought her to his
house. She had never had any news about her relatives. One year stayed with
that man then he sold her for 20 Medjidie to a Kurd by name Sjerkhar. After
some years he married her. Twelve years she was his slave. One day she met with
an Armenian. She then heard that many Armenians were living in Aleppo. She soon
after fled with some muleteers and succeeded in passing the frontier.
