Her
father was taken as a soldier in the Turkish army and disappeared. She herself,
her mother and sister were deported with all their country people in the
direction of Dierbekir and Mardin.
Elisabeth’s mother was killed on the road, a
Turk took her to his house. After some months he sold her to a Kurd. In that
village there was an Armenian servant. Elisabeth’s master allowed her to marry
that man. Newly he died and Elisabeth who was afraid to be married to a Kurd,
fled by night and reached Der-el-Zor. There she got the good news, that her
sister was alive and stayed in Aleppo. By the help of our agent she one day
reached our reception home safely.
Elisabeth’s sister was found in
Aleppo.
