Hagop was exiled with his parents
from Malatia to Albistan. They passed the night there. The following day when
he awoke his parents were absent. When he was weeping bitterly a Kurd came and
took him to his house. Hagop lived eleven years with that man. During that time
he worked as a shepherd in winter time and in summer as a farmer. One day, upon
the mountains with his sheep, he remembered his parents and begun to weep for
them and resolved to go to Aleppo hoping to find them. He met with some
muleteers who were going to Marash and then to Aleppo and offered them his aid
on the road. The muleteers were glad to have a helper and took him with them.
In Aleppo an Armenian met him in the Armenian church and brought him to us.
