Ovsanna was married before the war, her husband was taken in the Turkish Army and was killed. When the deportation order came, she was exiled with her parents, on the road the caravan was attacked by Arabs, they killed most of the people, among them were also Ovsannas' parents.

                  An Arab took Ovsanna to his tent, he was very rich but an ill natured man. He had three wives and Ovsanna was forced to be the fourth. She was always ill treated and was obliged to work hard. She tried to flee several times but was brought back and punished cruelly. Finally the muleteer helped her to flee and she came once to us in a miserable state. Now she is very happy in our rescue-home.
