Khatun was living in a village Kollik near Adiaman. In
the beginning of the war her husband was thrown in prison, tortured, and died
under the hand of his tormentors. A Turk took her and her two children in his
house. Four years ago he died and it was very difficult for Khatun to protect
her children against the Muslims.
One day she was working in the field, a Kurd entered into
the house and dragged Mariam away with him. The poor child was but twelve years
old. She was forced to live with that man. Newly a muleteer came to the
village, and he brought Khatun with her two children to our rescue-home.
