During the deportation Souren was
exiled from Tchorum to Harpoot. After a few days rest he was sent further on to
Veranshehir, where he was separated from the caravan and was brought to Derik,
near Mardin. There he grew up in an Arab's house serving as a shepherd. One day
a countryman of him had come to our rescue-house to look for his losses, by
this chance he had heard from our boys about Souren. The man asked and
assistance in order to save the boy. We informed Souren by some means and
succeeded to transport him to Aleppo.
