             During the deportation his father was a soldier in the Turkish army. He lost his mother on the road when they were exiled to Harran. Sarkis lived there all those years as a shepherd. One day he lost one of his Turkish master's sheep, he was afraid to go home and fled to Urfa and from there to Aleppo.

            Sarkis has no relatives.
