Andon was exiled from Nigde with his
parents and two brothers. As the caravan reached Ras-el-Ain, his father fell
ill and died, and his two brothers were killed by Arabs. He with his mother was
sent further on with the caravan. On reaching the river Khabur, his mother was
killed by Tchetchens and her dead body was thrown into the water. Andon,
himself had to taste the same sufferings. Wounded on his ribs, when he was
dragged away towards the river. There came an Arab and took the half-dead body
to his house. He took care of him until he was cured. He lived eleven years
with his rescuer working as a shepherd. One day he was informed by an Armenian
about his relatives and by the help of a priest he was able to get the
permission of his rescuer, in this way he reached our rescue-home.
