Hovhannes' father was killed in the beginning of the deportation. He was exiled with his mother and older brother. Both of them became ill on the road and died. Hovhannes remained alone.

                  The caravan reached Khonik, there a Kourd took him to his house. There he lived 5 years as a shepherd. He was illtreated and fled to an Arab village, Yughran, where he stayed 4 years as a servant.

                  In that village he heard about the rescue home in Aleppo, and one night he fled to Bab from where he was sent to us.

Hovhannes fled from our house May 1, 1925 and is now living with Armenians in Boumboudsch.
