These two sisters, Wadia and
Marie, were deported with their parents. In Mardin, those resolved to leave the
children under the charge of a Turk in order to save them from further
sufferings. They did so, and bidding them the final farewell, they went away
with the caravan. There has been no more news about them.
Wadia and Marie lived 11 years
by the Turk working for him. When they grew up their master wanted to give
Marie to another Turk but Marie refused to go and with her sister she fled to
Hassitshe. They remained there for a time, under the charge of a Syrian family.
Afterwards both of them were sent to us. In our house they forgot all their
previous sorrows.
