His
father was a soldier in the Turkish army. There is no more news about him.
Avedis was exiled with his mother, one brother and one sister. On reaching
Ras-el-Ain his mother and brother died overwhelmed with fatigue and hunger.
After his mother's death the idea occured to Avedis of returning to Aleppo and
accompanied with his sister he took the straight road for it. In three months
they reached Aleppo. What had passed during those three months? We can guess.
As they reached Aleppo he found a
place of refuge and leaving his sister there, he went into the city to get some
bread. Unfortunately he was recaptured by the gendarms and was sent againt to
Ras-el-Ain, where he lived in a Kurd's house working as a servant.
After two years the Kurd died and
Avedis remained without shelter. He went to another village named Ghori and
remained nine years working as a shepherd. One day his master beat him
severely. Avedis escaped and reached Hassitshe, from where by our agent he was
sent to us. He is very eager to find his long-lost sister in Aleppo. Avedis
went to our colony May 3, 1927.
