His father was killed in the beginning of the Armenian massacres. His mother and sister were deported. Hagop was taken to a Turkish house and lived eight years there being a shepherd.
Hagop desired very much to return to his nation but he could not flee, the danger was too big. Once when he met an Armenian muleteer, he asked him to take him away of this place. The muleteer promised him to take him to Aleppo if he could flee at night and come to his house. Hagop fled and they started their journey early in the morning.
As far as we know he has no relatives.
Hagob learned a trade and became selfsupporting.
