In the beginning of the deportation his father fled with some other Armenians to the mountains of Dersim. Three months later the Turkish government located them and all were killed right there. Before his mother was deported she gave Stepan and Garabed to a Turkish friend to safe their life. The mother was exiled with her two little daughters. The Turk kept the boys seven years. Both of them were doing farmer work.
When Armenians left Turkey, Stepan feld with his brother to an Armenian family. Early in the morning they joined a leaving party and so they succeeded in coming to Aleppo.
