Hagop was deported with his parents in the direction of Adana then Aleppo and Deir-el-Zor. There they stayed some months then the poor people driven into the desert, where they walked to and fro.

                  Hagop was that time a little boy and his father carried him along. One day an Arab wanted to take the boy, the father resisted, and the Arab killed him and brought Hagop to his tent.

                  He became a little shepherd by that man, till our agent one day found him and sent him to us.
