Haroutiun, his mother and sister were with a caravan of
deportation driven on to Arabkir. His father and uncles had gone to Russia
before the war. Haroutiun, being but a small boy at that time, does not
remember the name of his mother and sister. In Arabkir a Turk took him in his
house, and he became a servant and worked hard without any recompense. After
many years of slavery he fled with some muleteers and reached Malatia. There
some Armenians gathered the money for his travelling expenses, and one day he
arrived in Aleppo, where he addressed us for help, and of course we took him in.
