Khatoons husband was a soldier in the Turkish army and killed during his service. She was exiled with her four children, one daughter and three sons. The youngest but one and a half years old. In the beginning she had an asses, whereupon the children rode, but very soon the asses was taken away from her, and she had to leave the youngest child on the road.

            The caravan reached Zareg near Djiraboulous, where they encamped some days. A Kourd took there her eldest son Harootiune away, and Khatoon herself with a son and a daughter were by another Kourd brought to his house and kept as slaves. He soon after sold the daughter to a Kourd, the poor girl had suffered much and after a year she died.

            After two months Khatoon and her son got very ill and when she recovered she heard that her son was thrown out alive and eaten by the dogs.

            Khatoon served two years, later she was married to a Kourd, with whom she lived 8 years. Her son Harootiun grew up, and very much wanted to leave the Kourds, so one day he fled to us. He was anxious to find his relatives, so he twice returned to the Kourdish village. He succeeded bringing two Armenians boys, and at last also his mother.
