Avedis' father died before Avedis was born. He grew up with his mother and elder brother. In the beginning of the deportation he was exiled with his mother and brother to Der-el-Zor. Soon after their arrival, his mother and elder brother became ill and died.
Avedis was adopted by an Arab of the Shemmar tribe. He lived eight years in the Arab family. Once he came with his master to Mousoul on business an Armenian carriage-driver recognized him and told him about his relatives being alive in Aleppo.
Avedis asked for the permission to return to his nation and the Arab agreed. He went at once to our Der-el-Zor agent who sent him to us on May 17th.
Sent him to his relatives in Alexandrette.
Left our care: May 18, 1924. Relatives.
