Assadour's
parents died when he was but a baby. He then was brought up by his uncle with
whom he also was deported. The caravan reached the river Murad there they were
attacked by Kourds, who robbed, violated and killed. Many threw themselves in
the river, Assadour also. A Kourd drew him up again and brought him to a
village nearby. He stayed there 3 years then one day the Kourd said: "I
will bring you with me to Diarbekir, there perhaps you may find some Armenians
with whom you may live."
He did so, but Assadour, not
finding any Armenians, went to stay with a Turk. There he remained 8 years then
he fled with some muleteers and reached us safely.
