Her
mother died when she was a little baby. Marie was living in her aunt's house and
grew up there. When the Armenian deportation started her father was taken to
the Turkish army, where he became ill and died.
Marie was deported with her
aunt's family and Harpoot people to Mardin. On the road the caravan was
attacked by Kourds and Arabs.
Marie was taken to an Arab
family where she lived some years.
Marie wanted to escape from
the Moslems, so one night she fled to Hassitshe. There she met our agent, who
sent her by motor-car to Aleppo. Here she has found her grandmother and is
living with her.
