Asdghig's
parents were deported in the beginning of the war. They left their child
Asdghig, six years old, with a cousin of her. Some months afterwards those too
also were deported with their country people. On the road the cousin was killed
and Asdghig was left alone in the caravan. A Turk one day took her and brought
her to Mardin to his house. She stayed there six years as a slave, was then
sold for 100 Medjide to a man named Sheikh Nedjmeddin, who after a year married
her to his adopted son. Asdghig was always looking for a chance to flee. She
newly succeeded and reached Hassitshe from where she was sent on to our
rescue-house in Aleppo.
