In
the first outbreak of the deportation Djemile came on the road with her husband,
parents, 2 brothers and a sister. Her husband, parents and brothers were killed
in her presence. Her sister some days after became ill and died. Djemile left
alone among thousands of Armenians. They travelled afoot and always exposed to
the attack of a band of plunderers who robbed and killed the
people in the presence of the gendarms, who after the slaughter shared the
plundered booty.
Djemile came in the possesion
of a Tjeten (???) who sold her to a Kurd. The latter passed her to a rich Turk.
There she remained 12 years, till she got opportunity to cross the frontier and
reach Ras-el-Ain, from where by our agent she was sent to us.
Left our care: 21/4 27. Relatives Aleppo.
