His father died before the deportation. His mother married again. Armenag was adopted by his uncle. When the deportation started the whole family was exiled to Koulikan. Arrived there they were attacked by Kourds. Armenag fled to the mountains and was saved in this way. He remained two weeks in the mountains living on grass and wild fruits. Armenag saw that he could not endure it any longer and went back to the village where he lived with a Turk being his shepherd. When the Russian army attacked and occupied Erzeroum he tried to reach this city but could not succeed. He changed direction and went to Dersim. He lived there until he found an opportunity to flee to Aleppo.
His uncles Khatchadour, Krikor and Vahan Derderian and his mother's brother Hovhannes Mosigian are in America.
Armenag found work for himself and became selfsupporting.
