PICTURE

Avedis was deported with his father and mother. After a long walk in the desert they came to Meskene where his parents died.

Avedis was sent to Hamam with the caravan. There an Arab brought him to his tent in Surin. Avedis who was but a child 8 years old was happy there because he got bread enough. Before he had always been hungry and thirsty. Three months after, his mistress died and the Arab sent him away.

Avedis went to another tent, where he remained 3 years as a shepherd. Afterwards he fled to a rich Arabic family, where he was 7 years as their servant. He was ill-treated and wanted very much to return to his nation and learn a trade. One morning he fled and reached Djaraboulous from where he was sent to us.
